Bus Visor is a location aware, speech enabled application for retrieving schedule information for New Jersey Transit buses. It runs on phones and tablets and watches. It is integrated with Google Now so that you can get information on your bus by speaking a request.
If you are standing at a bus stop you can say, for example,
"OK Google, search for bus 126 on Bus Visor"
If you only name the route then Bus Visor tries to infer your stop from your current location. If a location fix is unavailable or if you are not at the stop then you must name the stop. For example,
"OK Google, search for bus 126 at Washington and First on Bus Visor"
Navigate to the help tab in the handheld application or say 'Help' at the speech recognizer's prompt in the wearable application for details.
Here is a recap of the permissions related to personal privacy that BusVisor asks for:
1) The send text (SMS) message permission is used to send a text message to NJT requesting information on a bus arrival. A text is sent ONLY when you choose to do so on the "Stop Detail" screen. This is useful when there is no data service available.
2) The microphone (aka record audio) permission is used so that you can request schedule information by speaking a request. Bus Visor turns on the microphone only when you touch the microphone icon. It is turned off when you end your request.
3) The precise location permission is used so that we can determine the bus routes and stops near where you are.
4) The activity recognition permission is used to determine when you are walking. We turn on activity recognition when you have chosen to erect a "geofence" around the stops you use so that we can give you schedule information automatically as you approach the fenced stop on foot.
